We've been fans of higher thread count clincher tires for a long time. The newsteam has used a number of Vittoria products over the years both tubular and clincher. A few years back when Vittoria released the original Diamante Pro (Pro being the Vittoria folks designation for 'folding') we were very impressed. A 220 TPI thread count gave it a very supple ride, maybe not quite as smooth as their flagshipo Corsa Open tubular series, but still very nice. Plus the tire had a more durable rubber compound, allowing a rider to get training mileage on a tire that was race worthy. The Kansas Cycling Association is holding a Category C (Beginner) Official’s Clinic this Saturday, February 23. The clinic will be held from 12:30 – 5:30 p.m. at Star Signs, 810 East 9th Street, Lawrence, Kansas. Please consider attending this free clinic and becoming licensed to officiate at USAC races. An open book test will be conducted at the end of the course. Attendees passing the test may purchase a 2008 Class C Official’s License for $35. Jim Whittaker of VeloTek tells localcycling.com that a flyer is coming soon for the upcoming Spring Fling racing in Lawrence. He says the format, classes and cost will be similar to last year. The second Bike Week Planning Meetingwill be held Tuesday, February 19th 6:30 - 8:00 PM at theTony Aguirre Community Center 2050 West Penway in Kansas City, Mo. "Please bring your ideas for events and be prepared to be the leader to bring the idea to fruition." The City of Shawnee and Localcycling.com will host a clinic on February 27th at the Shawnee Community Center near Johnson Drive and Pflumm. The topics will include recreational and practical cycling in Shawnee, how to connect up with other parts of the metro (including programs and rides) as well as equipment and bicycle choices.
