Chris Locke and fellow promoters have banded together to produce a six race local cyclocross series. In addition to individual race prizelists there will be overall awards. DeStad Van Kansas Cyclocross Series is presented by the folks at Paceline Products, local distributers of Maxxis Tires and Chamois butter.

The series races are Chris Cross, the two races of the Riverside Cross Festival, Roger Harrison's new event at St. Mary's University, The Kansas State Championship and The Grote Prijs Shawnee. The official site for info is: www.kansascitycross.com

Riders, it's truly cyclocross season, I'm typing this with a broken index finger from last week's 'Cross Training Clinic in Shawnee. Nationals registration is filling quickly, the quicker you register, the better your start position: www.kccrossnationals.com

Here's a helpful note from USAC regarding age categories:

"Remember that for CX, a person is one year older than shown on their 2007 license. I am getting a lot of questions from members, despite the fact this is the third year we are under this rule. This puts the onus on both the rider and official at registration because any rider who shows up with a white license that says, “racing age – 39” is actually 40 for the purpose of CX. That rule is not just for nationals. It is for all CX races commencing now since the CX season is here. I hope that when a rider buys a license on December 2nd, that it will be a yellow license and will be giving the racing age for 2008, in which case the rider’s age will be correct."
