A few years back when Vittoria released the original Diamante Pro (Pro being the Vittoria folks designation for 'folding') we were very impressed. A 220 TPI thread count gave it a very supple ride, maybe not quite as smooth as their flagshipo Corsa Open tubular series, but still very nice. Plus the tire had a more durable rubber compound, allowing a rider to get training mileage on a tire that was race worthy. We've recently tested the Diamante Pro 2, a slight upgrade over the original. The tires have that same supple…     Full Story

Cyclocross IS here!
Kansas City Metro

Wednesday night at Herman Laird Park in Shawnee kicks off the KC area cyclocross clinics, which include a special session just for women. Don't miss these essentials. Lawrence goes into the second week of their 'cross clinics: details here.

The kickoff race of the area is in Hermann, MO on Sept. 20th. The fields are full and should make some exciting racing.

The metro area's season begins on Sunday Sept. 28th in Lenexa with the Diamond Blackfan Challenge. An all new venue with rolling features and sand. This will be the first event of the six race DeStad Cyclocross Van Kansas Series. And even though many riders are looking at knobby tire courses this time of year, there's an opportunity for the Masters and Juniors to roll around Leavenworth for the Kansas Criterium Champs the day before. A great tuneup!

The area also gets a fresh series this year: Series 60 Cyclocross. Six races have banded together promising some familar classics and fresh venues, lots of fun, beer and prizes. The participating races are: Grand Prix HPT, Capital Cup, Boulevard Cup, 'Cross Out The Old Year (New Year's Eve!), Epic Holiday Cyclocross and The Grote Prijs Shawnee. Watch for the website in the next few days.

And don't forget, Cyclocross Nationals registration opens on September 15th. All new venue at Tiffany Springs Park.

TOM Recap
Kansas City Metro

A fantastic day of racing in Kansas City featured the Women's Pro Crit on the Plaza. The fastest females in the country put on an outstanding show, and were rewarded with a $1000 crowd prime with 5 laps to go. A short time later the boys rolled in with Mark Cavendish again showing why he's the man for the sprints. Mark Breeding of North River Photography did his usual outstanding job capturing the action. Roger Harrison adds to his immense collection here. Check out the Tour of Missouri site for complete results.

Plenty of fans are adding their videos and pics at the http://www.tourofmissourifanzone.com/

Post event parties just off the plaza and at the Airport Hilton mingled local enthusiasts with top racers. The localcycling news team chatted with riders from around the world that were appreciative of Kansas City hospitality.
