We've been fans of higher thread count clincher tires for a long time. The newsteam has used a number of Vittoria products over the years both tubular and clincher. A few years back when Vittoria released the original Diamante Pro (Pro being the Vittoria folks designation for 'folding') we were very impressed. A 220 TPI thread count gave it a very supple ride, maybe not quite as smooth as their flagshipo Corsa Open tubular series, but still very nice. Plus the tire had a more durable rubber compound, allowing a rider to get training mileage on a tire that was race worthy. This weekend, starting Friday night, you can race or watch one of the premier regional events, The Tour of Kansas City. Friday night's criterium is a new event, held in conjunction with a street festival in KCK. Saturday's Cliff Drive Circuit offers the epic "Goose Neck Hill" and the KCOI/Boulevard Party with food and beverage. Sunday is the fast and furious Downtown Overland Park Criterium. The folks at Bike Shack bring back their popular Time Trial, this time in Buckner. The great Criterium in Sedalia, Missouri is held in it's Historic Downtown, followed by a challenging road race in Otterville the next day. And for those of you who can't wait for cyclocross, the first Kansas City clinics starts this month in Shawnee: 'Cross Clinics. Plus a short drive to St. Louis brings you to the Gateway Cup. |
