Vittoria Diamante Pro 2 Review

We've been fans of higher thread count clincher tires for a long time. The newsteam has used a number of Vittoria products over the years both tubular and clincher. A few years back when Vittoria released the original Diamante Pro (Pro being the Vittoria folks designation for 'folding') we were very impressed. A 220 TPI thread count gave it a very supple ride, maybe not quite as smooth as their flagshipo Corsa Open tubular series, but still very nice. Plus the tire had a more durable rubber compound, allowing a rider to get training mileage on a tire that was race worthy. We're watching the weather for tonight's cyclocross clinic at Herman Laird, but even if it's a bit wet there should be instruction and fun. The emphasis for this final clinic of the season will be road starts (and of course the usual beginner's basic instruction). The City of Shawnee is also letting the post-event activities happen indoors, and that includes Boulevard Beer and a visit from the VeloD folks.

Lots of riders have been checking out the Sar-Ko-Par course, site of this weekend's opener in the metro: The Diamond Blackfan Challenge.

This year features two outstanding cyclocross series in the area. Just like in the low countries, racers contest both the Superprestige and the GvA, locally it's the DeStad Van Kansas and the Series60 CX. Lots of awards at each individual race and LOTS of depth to the category prizes for each series.

In addition Jeremy Haynes has a blog for the Boss Cross races; and while they may not be scored as a series, all are outstanding events and include a preview of the Nationals course.

A complete local schedule can be found here.
