Weekend Update

The localcycling.com news team has been hearing some 'smack' talk over the last couple of weeks about a certain youthful local rider (i.e. Chris Wallace) being the guy to win the 3's at the Joe Martin Stage Race. Well, that talk was entirely accurate: Check out the results here. (http://www.joemartinstagerace.com/results_main/index.html) Plenty of other local riders in the categories. Bike week is ready to kick off on Monday with localcycling.com riders doing recovery rides both north and south (check the black box with 'upcoming rides' for details). AND don't forget to click on the banner ads on our pages, some of the advertisers are offering Bike Week specials, and they're the folks that keep us in the business of bringing you localcycling news.

Actually it was the NEET Time Trial at Gardner. We've got to give Chris and Keri Hess a big hand for trying to sort this out under some very cliche Kansas weather. Think Oz, Dorothy, Flying Monkeys. Results. (raceflyers/May 1 2008 Time Trial Results.pdf)

Fundamentals

This weekend features one of the core events of American style bicycle racing: a criterium. It's also a great opportunity if you're a woman. The Lansing Daze Women's Criterium has a host of events and awards for all abilities. Hard working Roger Harrison has amped up the event from last year with even more categories. A great value for experience and the experienced alike. Scroll down to the Flyers section for more details. Roger also notes that there is some construction going on in the Lansing/Leavenworth area, so allow a little extra time for travel.Tonight (Thursday 5/1) is another scheduled session of the Gardner 10K Time Trial put on by the NEET folks. If you're getting ready for Corporate Challenge, Triathlons, Stage Races, or just want to chase down the break, this is another fundamental event. Scroll down for details.
