Walt Bleser and Bill Marshall are fanning the flames of fun for the upcoming Tour of KC. The lastest news from these two "party guys" (remember Bill Murray as Hunter S. Thompson?): "Each race participant of legal drinking age will receive two free drink tickets for a party held at LaBodega Saturday, August 12th 6:00 P.M. to whenever! At registration we will check ID’s & provide the drink tickets and wrist bands for those who are eligible. The free drink options are Boulevard Beer or Svedka Vodka, both of which sponsor the Tour of Kansas City. Live music, great food and great fun. Support our sponsors. . La Bodega. Consequences? Well, this gentleman is likely to tempt the spectators on Gooseneck Hill prior to the evening festivites: The Devil |

In Texas they call these kind of events "Rallies." Not quite an Italian Gran Fondo, but bigger and more supported than your average weekend ride: Cider Mill. Summer Breeze. Buffalo Bill. Three rides to keep you fit with a high fun quotient. |

Chris Locke finished 20th in the Masters 40 - 49 division at the NORBA national championship XC. Chris says,"The course was very hilly. My event had over 3500 hundred feet of climbing."
This weekend riders will travel to Missouri for the Missouri State Time Trial Championships near Jefferson City.
The Tour of Kansas City race is shaping up (click on the banner ad for details) BUT www.localcycling.com is trying to sweeten the pot: We're challenging all local clubs to match or beat our $50 donation for primes. This money is gonna direct to the riders at various hot spots during the two days of racing. Watch for details on how you can donate. |

After a hard 20km time trial in the morning usually the last thing this reporter gets excited about is riding my bike again at the stroke of midnight. But I made an exception for the Lenexa Midnight Ride, a pretty unusual but definitely flavorful event. Nearly 800 riders jouneyed from Old Town Lenexa out towards the new Prairie Star Parkway and a detour through some industrial caves (yes, you ride your bike underground). While this is definitely a family friendly ride, our group made a preride refreshment stop for a Belgian style ale at Callahan's near the start. Lori Gregor captures some of the fun. |
