Steve Tilfod gets the bell. Photo by Mark Breeding Despite a lap two mishap into a frigid lake, Steve Tilford won his second consecutive KLM Elite Cyclocross. Temperatures were even colder today than yesterday's Arctic session, but the weather did not deter a healthy crowd of rowdy spectators and racers from around the US. The Women's Elite race was won by Melissa Thomas (Maxxis) after several laps of dueling with Sue Butler (River City). Check out these photos from Mark Breeding: Womens Elite Mens Elite. A few more photos from Bruce Edwards: today and yesterday Also, the good folks at Velonews have a great story on the event with some pics of Tilly's splashdown shot by Kurt Jambertz. Here's a gallery of Kurt's photos. Today's Results:Juniors Men 3/4 Men 1/2/3 Masters Elite Women Elite Men |

Barriers weren't the only obstacle. Missouri State Championships Riders from around the region were greeted with freezing temps at Day One of the combined Missouri State Cyclocross Championship/KLM UCI Race. The fast mowed grass sections required balance and nerves to negotiate the sheet ice on straightaways and corners. Riders from the East side of Missouri found travel to the race venue difficult due to the major midwest snow storm. Russell McCorkle shot some of the action here. Bruce Edwards sends us a gallery of photos: here. Complete results below. (Results work best in IE) Day two features some of the top racers in the US vying for UCI points AND free beer.
