Tom Vs. TeamX Pleasant weather (with a bit of wind), a lengthened course from last year, and plenty of Belgian ambience made the second year of the Grote Prijs of Shawnee a success. Racers from around the region competed for final Maxxis Series points as well as a 'day of' prize list of dollars and swag. The new feature of long road straightaways kept the speed up. The cabaret seating in the heated Town Hall and Boulevard Beer eased the post race pains. Photos here from Bruce Edwards. Lots of photos here http://www.seekcrun.com/ For complete results click on 'read more' below. We'll post the Maxxis winners later today! Lastly, the promoters want to send a shout out to Margretta DeVries, one of the hardest working USAC Officials in show business, for coming out to officiate a January cyclocross race |

Richard Latimer captures the start of last year's GP. Join the localcycling.com news team at Trek Bicycle Store of KC on Thursday, January 4th from 5-8 PM for registration and packet pickup for the first local race of 2007: The Grote Prijs Shawnee. The folks from Boulevard Beer will be on hand at the race with beverage, the Maxxis and Trek folks are providing some great prizes (remember, this is the final event of the Maxxis 'Cross Series). For those of you not racing, bring your cowbells, enjoy the beer and yell your head off. If it's cold and wintry, we've got a heated building to escape the weather. |
