Rock and Mercy. Several area riders were in Austin over the weekend, including the 'on fire' Kelly Benjamin. Bill Marshall commented to the localcycling news team: "Holy cow it was hard!" Bill's squad of Mercy riders made up of mostly regional athletes came out quite well against the powerhouse national squad of Rock Racing. Mr. Daems and our own Donna Stevens Roger Harrison points out that the cyclocross season isn't that far away. The DeStad Van Kansas Series has announced dates here. The localcycling.com news team is always excited about 'cross. We're planning our annual trip to Belgium for the Masters World Championships in January of 2009. We'll have information out soon for the many folks who are interested. Meantime there are lots and lots of great races planned for the area. Just to tease you we've got some pics from our great friend in Mol, Belgium, Mr. Jos Daems. These are last years photos Mr. Daems took at the Masters WK. Here are some recent shots of his pal, Tom. Mr. Daems great website. Dig around for more cool cycling photos and some very cool clogs. We can bring you some back!

From the folks at Heartland Race: Truman’s Big Love, this Sunday June 22nd ww.w.hearlandrace.com Join us this Sunday for the annual running of Truman’s Big Love at Landahl Park, in Independence, MO. The course conditions will be in rockin shape by Friday, as the forecast is calling for awesome weather. We are working on getting the course prepped and beautifully groomed for the racing this weekend. The courses are completely different than the ones run last week at the KC Cup and supa fast. We're very impressed at the number of rides popping up aroung the metro. Monday offers what we at localcycling.com have been calling a 'recovery' ride for several years. It's a great night for a social ride that backs off the speed and distance (provided you've done hard/long or both over the weekend). It's also a great opportunity to mentor folks new to group rides. Check out KCBike.info's listing of these rides here. With fresh locations at Epic Bike and Sport north of the river and at Family Bicycles in Waldo, you're likely to find one within riding distance of where you live.
