It wasn't unexpected, we've had a lot of moisture, but here's the link to the official call on this weekend's mounain bike race at Landahl. If you want to keep it on the pavement there's plenty of racing at the Spring Fling on Saturday and "That Dam Race" on Sunday. At localcycling.com we try to keep you tuned in to the current race flyers. Note we have an "Upcoming Rides and Races" section in the upper right as well as a "Flyers and Results" on the lower left of the page. |

Here's the link to the upcoming Joseph Sheehan Road Race on Sunday April 27th. A nice rolling course (50 miles for most) with some good categories. Next weekend (March 2nd) is the first of the Perry Road Races, another great early season series. No flyer from the Spring Fling events available yet. |

The localcycling.com newsteam filled up the Pathfinder the other day to the tune of $3.00 per gallon. Whatever your political views are on fuel sustainabiltiy, that's not cheap. If you're reading this story you've probably got a bicycle, right? So for those of you needing a little kick in the pants to two wheel it around for something other than a lenghty set up for a city limit sprint, here are some resources. Last year at Earth Day we cooked up a little reward system at www.choose2bike.com. Check out our monthly incentives and inspirations. This coming Wednesday February 27th in Shawnee (6:30 PM at the Civic Centre, 13817 Johnson Drive), there will be a nice clinic on how to get around Shawnee by bike, for recreational and practical reasons. What organized ride opportunities are available, how to hook up with other parts of the city, and equipment needs (bicycle and otherwise) for all types of cycling will be covered. Deb Ridgway, KCMO Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator, will be on hand to talk about how riding a bike can be as much fun for adults as it is for children. She will share her vision for creating a bicycle friendly region, the role Kansas City is playing, and how you can change your community. You don't have to RSVP, but it would be nice: (913)631-5200 . The folks in St. Louis have got it going on at the St. Louis Bike Fed, watch the video on getting around by bike. Lots of good things are coming up in May for Bike To Work Week, including regional programs like the Go By Bike Challenge . Lastly, who does it by bike as often as anybody? Check out our good friend Noah's bike commuter blog. |
