Mr. Parker goes to Mol Area racers Teresa Jarzemkoski, Dean Parker and Mark Thomas are off to Belgium to race the UCI Masters World Cyclocross Championships. Jarzemkoski and Parker used last weekend's GP Shawnee to tune-up before the championships and all three riders put some last minute intensity into their program with a group interval session on Saturday. The weather in the city of Mol, where the race will be held, has been upper 30's and rainy, but the sandy soil of the venue should be mostly mud free. Riders from acround the world, but primarily from the low countries will line up on Saturday January 21st for the event. Localcycling.com will carry brief updates (assuming all the wireless connections work) and full results are likely to be posted at cyclocross.info. Here's a short video from last year's race. |

The Crowd Watches the Run at the Grote Prijs Shawnee Joel Dyke Rides by the Playground at the Grote Prijs Shawnee Unseasonably warm winter weather and the
promise of coffee, pizza and beer drew large crowds to the first ever
Grote Prijs Shawnee Cyclocross race on Sunday, January 8. Stiff
breezes helped to dry the course, but caused a few riders trouble when
tape blew across the course and got tangled with derailleurs. Click here for full Results. Photos by Caitlin Jarzemkoski. Photos by Richard Latimer |

Crowds watching local cyclocross and enjoying Boulevard Beer... O.K. maybe these folks aren't local but they'd appreciate the beverage. Racers and spectators will gather at Laird Park next to Old Shawnee Town this Sunday for the first USCF event of the new year. Weather is expected to be pleasant for watching but the above freezing temperatures with the soggy ground could make for muddy going for the riders. The promoters have a heated building for shelter as well as refreshments appropriate for cyclocross watching: Beer. Racers can register online today or sign up at Trek Bicycle Store of Kansas City on Saturday. Click here to see the full flyer. |
