A fantastic day of racing in Kansas City featured the Women's Pro Crit on the Plaza. The fastest females in the country put on an outstanding show, and were rewarded with a $1000 crowd prime with 5 laps to go. A short time later the boys rolled in with Mark Cavendish again showing why he's the man for the sprints. Mark Breeding of North River Photography did his usual outstanding job capturing the action. Roger Harrison adds to his immense collection here. Check out the Tour of Missouri site for complete results.

Plenty of fans are adding their videos and pics at the http://www.tourofmissourifanzone.com/

Post event parties just off the plaza and at the Airport Hilton mingled local enthusiasts with top racers. The localcycling news team chatted with riders from around the world that were appreciative of Kansas City hospitality.

Today is the start of the Tour Of Missouri. Stage One for the men ends in Kansas City. Prior to the men's finish a stellar field of women will be competing in a fast and furious criterium n the Country Club Plaza. Check our Tour of MO Special section for the schedule.

There have been plenty of additions to the Health and Fitness expo. Several of our advertisers (the folks that pay our bills) will have booths with giveaways and specials. We'd like to note our two newest: Renaissancecoaching and VeloD. You'll also find several of our bicycle shop sponsors at the event. So, click on our advertisers and find out what they have to offer. They support local cycling in many ways.

Some quick updates on Tour of Missouri local happenings:

Liquigas professional team will be at Cycle City on Prairie View road on Sunday September 7th at 5:00pm to do an autograph signing. Members from the team will be there for about 1 hour signing jerseys, photos and anything else they can put a sharpie to. Check out www.cyclecitykc.com for address and more details.

The Missouri Bicycle Federation and Kansas City Bicycle Club are going to offer free valet bike parking at the ToM Expo on the Plaza, from Noon to 6pm.  They also need volunteers to help  staff the parking operation:

Cyclocross

Cyclocross races go forward in all types of weather, but we've got to be kind to our limited local venues. Tonight's Cyclocross Clinic at Herman Laird Park in Shawnee is a 'no go'. With plenty of wet weather still on the way, we'll all have to wait until next week to play at this park. The Women's Clinic portion will be postponed until next Wednesday too, but will feature the same great instruction and raffle opportunities.
