This seminar is for those who wish to become a USCF or NORBA race official. This is an introductory clinic for certification of new officials. Pre-clinic study materials are the USAC, USCF, and NORBA rulebooks, which can be found online. Seminar participants will receive a hard copy of the new 2006 rule book. Additional study materials include the Officials Manual. Links to the manuals and rulebooks may be found online at http://www.usacycling.org/officials/  Knowledge of the rules will be tested with an open book test.  All other USAC officials can satisfy the annual review requirement as outlined in USCF Bylaw 8.2.3.1.  Bring $40 for a 2006 annual officials license ($35) and cost of incidentals ($5) for the clinic.

Anyone 18 or over may become a race official, and, although helpful, previous cycling or racing experience is not required.  Please pass the word to friends, family and non-racing club members.  We are in need of several new officials in each state to keep our growing schedule running smoothly.

The 'Cross season is stil not over for the metro area. The folks in Springfield, IL are hosting the 18th annual Tour De Groundhog. From the course description, mountain bikes are welcome, and possibly recommended. While the editors have not participated in this long standing event, and the course may not be 'pure' cyclocross, it sounds like a good time.
