Hello to you all,
I have just recently returned from a week long business trip to Houston and wanted to just take a moment of your time to bring you up to date on some "major" progress for MTFGKC.
I would like to inform you, as friends and supporters of the foundation, that we have acquired a donated van (see the pics attached) from the former operators of the Kansas City "Trips for Kids" program, along with enough bicycles, equipment and clothing to service a lot of children in our area. We would like to thank "Trips for Kids" once again for this amazing gift, and pledge to use it in the same spirit it was given.
This donation does however, raise some issues for MTFGKC simply because it will allow us to move to yet another level in the effort to provide service to the community. And I have to admit that the old saying is so true..."Be careful what you ask for, you might just get it!", because I have not anticipated such rapid growth, support and popularity here in KC, and just have not planned on such significant advancements, such as the acquisition of this van.
Having said that, my next issue of concern becomes the sustainabiliy of this donation to the foundation. I have recently completed the MTFGKC programming plan for 2007-2009, which is presently under review by our board and advisors, so we have a clear view of how the van can be utilized productively. (We have almost completed our MTFGKC Sponsorship Proposal Package, also) What I need now are ideas, methods and poteintial opportunities to raise funds to impliment and facilitate that plan, and acquire storage for our new equipment. And, I am hoping that if you have any of those, you will reach out and contact me, so that I can share information with you and get moving ASAP.
Those of you who know me, or anything about me, know that I rarely ask for anything for others, outside of their belief in me and support in what I do, because I always feel that I can do it all on my own. I admit that most times, I am less than willing to ask for help from others because I am not sure that they, with the pressure of everyday living, have the time to do so.
And so, while I hate to intrude into your lives, this is one time when I must put aside my pride and ask you for your help. Raising funds for MTFGKC, for the efficient use of it's recent donations and all of our equipment has become my main focus. If you have information that may assist me in acquiring funding, sponsorship, in- kind donations (there are repairs needed on the van) or a storage facility of some type, PLEASE let me know, or just share this email with them. I am not afraid of hard work, and that is what this is going to be....so all you have to do is put me on the right track. I can be reached either by email or at 816 682-4191. Feel free to call or leave a message anytime.
Thank you again, for your interest and support of MTFGKC!
Best Regards, Kenneth R. Walker |
