Quite a few area riders have headed off to the Cyclocross National Championship this weekend in Rhode Island. The local weather is reminescent of the 2000 Overland Park 'Cross Nationals. But the season isn't over! Shawnee will host a cyclocross race at a fresh venue on January 8th, 2006. Promoters Mark Thomas and Chris Locke are pleased to have the City of Shawnee's assistance in developing a 'village' style setting for the event. "Shawnee is the sister city of Pittem, Belgium and is proud of it's Belgian heritage, so a 'cross race is a great fit," says Thomas. Mr. Locke, after consulting area racers has added a single speed class, and notes, "This venue is perfect for the hard core or first time rider.
