Vittoria Diamante Pro 2 Review

We've been fans of higher thread count clincher tires for a long time. The newsteam has used a number of Vittoria products over the years both tubular and clincher. A few years back when Vittoria released the original Diamante Pro (Pro being the Vittoria folks designation for 'folding') we were very impressed. A 220 TPI thread count gave it a very supple ride, maybe not quite as smooth as their flagshipo Corsa Open tubular series, but still very nice. Plus the tire had a more durable rubber compound, allowing a rider to get training mileage on a tire that was race worthy. We've recently tested the Diamante Pro 2, a slight upgrade over the original. The tires have that same supple…     Full Story

The Kansas Category Championship Races are coming up fast! Dates are...

RR - Saturday June 7th - Arma, KS

Crit - Sunday June 8th - Pittsburg, KS

TT - Sunday June 22nd - Walnut, KS

You can find all the race specifics plus lodging info at the race website. We have free lodging (BAK style gym floor camping) available on Friday June 6th and Saturday June 7th at Northeast High School gymnasium (site of the RR). Both the RR & Crit have air conditioned buildings and showers available on-site.
http://www.tailwindcyclists.com/localevents/race/index.htm

Here are a few details of each race:

RR - Course is the same as always. This year the Cat 5 Men and all women's races will start at 8 AM and be done by 10:30 AM when the Cat 1-4 men's races start. This split start will have fewer races on the course at once and avoid the problem of one race "catching" another. Wheel vehicles will be following each race and a neutral feed zone (Trek provides the bottles, we have feeders) will be supplied by Trek, racers can bring their own feed person as well. Post race showers are available at the high school.

Crit - Same course on the PSU campus with some wide open stretches, a very technical twisty back stretch and one small hill. Plenty of parking and showers on site always make the race very racer friendly.

TT - All categories do 40K on the famous Walnut course. Registration and awards will be in the St. Patrick's Church Hall with both breakfast and lunch served to any hungry racers for a donation to the Church fund. Start times are established by registration time (regardless of category) so register early if you want an early start time. A list of pre-registered racers and their start times will be posted at the TT web page on Friday June 20th at or after 8 PM. Day of race registrants will not know their start times until 1/2 hour before the race begins when registration closes.

You can register online for all the races at sportsbaseonline.com

The Kansas Cycling Association will present the 2008 Kansas Omnium Jersey to the rider with the best combined results in each of the Men Category 1 / 2, 3, 4 and 5 and Women Category 1 / 2, 3 and 4 2008 Category State Championship Road Race, Criterium and Time Trial.

To be eligible for the Omnium title, competitors must participate in all three Kansas State Category Championships in the same category, be an annual USCF license holder, and be a Kansas resident.

Points will be awarded as follows: 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 point for finishing. Ties will be decided by the highest placing in the Road Race.
