KC's Wine Ride

The Localcycling crew discovered a gem a few years ago.

Kansas City's historical West Bottoms area is known for the former stockyards, haunted houses and the American Royal Rodeo. The district is also home to some neatly restored and repurposed buildings with some unique tenants. Art galleries and fresh restaurants have been added to the mix.

Inside the Telegram Building (formerly housing a cattle industry publication) is the Amigoni Urban tasting room.

Locally produced wines and specialty beers (Boulevard Smokestack Series) plus some small plates are served upĀ in a beautifully remodeled setting.

They also happen to host a weekly bicycle ride.

The "Wine Ride" was dreamed up by a couple of Localcycling Team members that work at a nearby West Bottoms Business. Amigoni offered a nice place for a Friday after work 'wind down', adding a relaxing bike ride before seemed a perfect match.

The ride itself is offered year round (with the exception of inclement weather). The format is an easy paced exploration of the Bottoms and nearby neighborhoods lasting about one hour. There is no fixed route, and the ride leaders try to offer up fresh scenery each week.

Rides begin 5:30PM sharp every Friday.
