Lance Armstrong will be our very special guest speaker. He will be sharing his personal story of fame, tragedy, and triumph. Lance is one of the most decorated and successful athletes in the history of sports, as well as a worldwide celebrity, and a cancer survivor. We are very privileged to have him here in Kansas City and as a part of our annual Luncheon at The American Royal. We sure hope you won't miss out on this tremendous opportunity.
 
Oklahoma Joes will be serving their award winning barbecue and Larry Moore from Channel 9 will be our master of ceremonies.
 
Lance is also bringing autographed TREK bicycles, an autographed and framed Tour de France Jersey, and an autographed Tour de France picture that will be auctioned off during the event to help raise funds for LiveStrong and The American Royal mission.
 
It's going to be a fun and very memorable day and we sure hope you can come and be a part of this historic event!

Choose 2 Bike Challenge award winners to be named Aug. 14
WHAT: An event to announce the four winners of the Choose 2 Bike Challenge

WHERE: In front of the Freedom of Speech Circle at Illus Davis Park, Locust and 10th streets

WHY: The City of Kansas City, Mo., partnered with five area bicycle businesses and retailers to sponsor the Choose 2 Bike Challenge to get residents to take their bicycle on short trips. Contest winners each receive a bicycle, a bicycle helmet and lock. Choose 2 Bike Challenge sponsors include the City, localcycling.com, Epic Bike and Sport, Bike Source, Family Bicycles and Cycle City.

Here are the results from tonight's race against the clock at Gardner. More time trial opportunites still on the calendar: September NEET at Gardner, St. Joe Team Time Trial, and Octoginta TT.

The Tuesday Night Training Criterium put on by the folks at NEET has made the paper. Check out this nice write up here. Hats off to Justin Bowes of SKC for getting us racer types some good press.

Two area juniors, Garrick Valverde and Alex Edwards competed along with their St. Louis based Mesa Cycling Racing Team mates in the 49th annual Fitchburg Longsjo Classic in Fitchburg MA.  The race was held from July 3 to the 6th.

The race is the largest pro/am cycling event in North America, the second oldest races in the country and attracts over 900 riders from around the world with $51,500 in total prizes. Results are posted here:
