We want to send a shout out to one of our favorite sites that also covers cycling in Kansas City: Note he links to a story on one of the real positive influences for improving human powered transport in the metro, Deb Ridgeway.

Eric is also the man behind the Commuter Challenge!

From Calvert Guthrie:

Kansas City Bikes & Trikes for Tykes & Adults must close its doors.
We're being evicted from our warehouse--it's being razed next month.
1415 IRON Street North Kansas City Warehouse district.

JULY 14th 8AM....This is a total clearance sale!!!
We have hundreds of bikes that must go NOW.
If we don't sell it or give it away, it goes to the dumpster.
Yes, I know, but it's out of my hands.
Prices on all bikes are dirt low and are sold as is.
Some restored bikes remain but are going quickly--
they are not the only values in stock.
Many of the older bikes are loaded with
hard to find, barely-used, retro parts...
freewheels, Suntour parts, thumbshifters,
bottle cages, racks, saddles, long-reach
brakes for 650 wheel conversions, &c.
All proceeds go to paying our overhead
and for storage of our tools while the
organization is reformed.
Plenty of bicycle wonks will be on hand
to help folks find a bike that fits them.
Please pass this along.

But a break in the wet stuff gave the folks of the Capps-Rebound team an opportunity to host anther of their excellent time trials. The 20K course featured a mix of terrain, a very healthy prize list and a great raffle. Results here. Roger Harrison captures the action in pics here. And on July 9th you can go to and order images online: password timetrial.

Joe Camerlinck has posted some great photos of the NCCA National Championships held in the Lawrence. Area rider Phil Mann brought home a national championship. Also held was an 'open criterium'. This is the first of several major 2007 events for the metro. The area is also host to the opening stage of the Tour of Missouri and Cyclocross Nationals.
