Coming up: Flint Hills Express
Two days of racing in Topeka this weekend, part of BOTH Series60CX and KBAR competition.
The hard working crew always stakes and tapes these races to a high standard. Expect a course with a healthy mix of all the required skills.
Held on a unique permanent CX course near Lawrence (and the same property that hosts the Kansas Velodrome), Joules Cross is a highlight of the local cyclocross season.
This year photographer/MC and all round supporter Roger Harrison is offering some special primes:
"It is a pleasure to give the Women racers competing at Joules Cross, a prime(cash) that will be awarded to the first female riders to complete one lap of the "Spiral of "Death" on Saturday and Sunday. It will also be awarded to the first rider in Category W 4, W Masters(all inclusive) and W Category 1,2,3(all inclusive), Juniors(both age groups) will receive a prize in lieu of cash. These primes are donated by the Lanterne Rouge Volunteer Group."
Lots and lots of grass (and a little single track). The Cliff Drive race is part of a complete Kessler Park festival with some cool off road events.
RESULTS from Day One.
RESULTS Day Two
Good to have Roger Harrison back with lots of photos
Next up: Joules 'Cross
Cliff Drive Cyclocross is part of a full on Kessler Park Fiesta this year: featuring all kinds of activities including some Urban Dirty mountain biking.
Lots of grass and lots of hill, it's KC's answer to the Koppenberg race in Belgium.
Two days of racing, October 8th and 9th: FLYER
Castle Cross (Dutch: Kasteel Veldrijden) appealed to the weather Gods and received. A beautiful Fall day, good size fields and mixed course with plenty of road and plenty of technical...plus a Cajun buffet.
Lots of photos from Jesse Miguel
We've got some other links we'll post asap
The weekend of 10/1 and 10/2 is full of good cycling events. Saturday morning it's Castle 'Cross in the Jazz District. A brand new event with a challenging course, plenty to do, including museums and a buffet at Danny's Big Easy.
Also on Saturday it's Spider Fest. This has become a full on offroad festival at WyCo.
Sunday it's the Octoginta Ride. A historic "end of road season" for many (but doesn't have to be). A good fast sportif that becomes fairly social throughout the day. 47 years strong!
A new course in a beautiful East side park in Kansas City, MO. The early races found the corners slippery on the wet grass, but the track dried for later riders.
A good mix of technical turns and moderate climbs as well as pavement and fast downhills.
Sunday repeats the schedule: FLYER
