Bike Rides’ own JP Shores will be on a panel of local cycling experts who will discuss community bike rides. Also Brian Jensen and Chris Locke will be a part of this panel discussion about local cycling in KC. The Tour of Kansas City for 2010 is a wrap. Results should be up asap.

The Tour of Lawrence continues a hot summer of area racing with a challenging circuit race and a fast criterium this weekend.

For those looking for a worthy charity ride, Saturday 7/3 has the  Freedom From Cancer benefit for the LAF.

Tuesday 6/29 is another round of NEET Tuesday Worlds. This year is record setting for participation.

Thursday Night 7/1 brings the NEET Time Trial at Gardner, a great way to test yourself against the clock for 10KM.

Also, Thursday 7/1 is the first of limited opportunites to check out the Grass Track venue in Lawrence.  This is a show-n-go event to familiarize riders with velodrome rules. A Clinic will be offered each Thurs prior to the July 24th State Championship event. To do mass start events you must be a Category 4 for Track for men or 3 for women. You can upgrade by attending this clinic. 7PM Starts/Directions on the attached State Championship Flyer to the track.

"This weekend's TOKC races marks the debut of Kansas City's women-only racing team, The Roasterie Flyers. The team is comprised of three partners: The Roasterie Air Roasted Coffee Company, Kansas City's newest cycling nonprofit, Revolve, and Family Bicycles, LLC. The team will field 6 racers across two races this weekend in Cat 4/Beginner and Cat 4 catagories. The roster of the Roasterie Flyers holds some promising talent for both road and CX racing: Lt. Col. Kristin Goodwin, Robyn Burky, Venasa Ray, Jill Ducey, Rebecca Gorrell, Cheryl Wah and Team Captain, Elizabeth Bejan. The team will host a women's Crit Clinic in early August conducted by the team's Pro Advisor, Kelly Fisher-Benjamin, current racer for the women's Colavita/Baci professional team. More details on that event to follow. Check out the team's hot racing kit designed by Jeanne Barnhill of amgrafx. A kit will be offered in the near future to the public in the orange color found on some Roasterie packaging. Friday, Saturday and Sunday events make up this weekend's Breakthrough Tour of Kansas City. All three races offer healthy prize lists and great courses. IF you're not racing check out some of the top cycling talent in the region at each of the exciting venues.

Saturyday's mini-Alpe de Huez atmosphere at Cliff Drive's Gooseneck Hill is not to be missed.
